Eye Check up
Programme at Oxford Mission, D.H. Road:
Was held this Sunday, the 21st February, 2010 at 10 A.M. onwards.
Screening was conducted by team of doctors from Susrut Eye Foundation
Hospital, Salt Lake for 48 persons (selected 21 persons) for IOL operations. By
Susrut Eye Foundation.

Out of which 17 persons turned up on Monday morning for IOL surgeries at Eye
Hospital, Salt Lake. which were conducted successfully. This project was
undertaken jointly With Rotary Club of Behala..

Blood Donation Camp:

There were 52 voluntary blood donors donated blood in our Blood DonationCamp held in association with Uday Kishore Sangha on Sunday, the 21st February, 2010 at Mondal Temple Lane, Kol-53. There were 60 voluntary blood donors donated blood in our last Blood Donation
Camp held on Sunday the 14th February in association with Tollygunje Yubak Sangha.
Both camps were arranged by President Rtn Kuldip and he represented our club.

RCC District Conference ( Bihan):

Was held on 19th to 21st Feb, 2010 at Rabindra Bhawan, Diamond Harbour, 24 Pgns (S) Host: R.C. of Kabitirtha.Our members from R.C.C. Khandalia attended and won some awards also.
Congratulations Shri Gobindo Koyal, President and his team.

Felicitation to Youth Cultural Exchange Team from Germany:

Was extended by our club on Thursday, the 11th February, 2010 at Outram Club
from 8 P.M. onwards. There was songs, mono duets in GHerman, Bengali and Hindi. The atmosphere was of youthfulness and happiness.It was enjoyed by every one present. Rtr Ayesha Alam and Rtr ChitralekhaGhosh were present with their Rotaractors collegues.   • Called 761st Regular club meeting to order.
  • National Anthem was sung by all present and led by PP Rtn Tapas Bhattacharjee, team leader of out going GSE Team to Germany.
  • welcomed guest of the evening PP Rtn Ranjit Chakraborti,R.C. Danville/Sycamore Valley (RI Dist 5160) who had reached that very morning at Kolkata and earlier had an informative meeting with CP Rtn Sanjit, President Rtn Kuldip and Secretary Rtn Sanjay at 5 P.M. Mr S.C. Mokherjee from Janhabi Trust was also welcomed.
  • also welcomed PP Rtn Tapas Bhattacharjee, outgoing GSE Team Leader for Germany and two of his team members.
  • Informed members about the valuable guidance and help received from the very first day of the English Teaching through Computer, Matching Grant Project from our friend PP Rtn Ranjit. Each and every member of our club is greatly indebted to him for tireless efforts for building the frame work of this Project.
As our sincere appreciation and deepest regards requested CP Rtn Sanjit to present him a flower bouquet.

Mr. Subhash Ch. Mokherjee, from Janhabi Trust was also felicitated.
When requested PP Rtn Ranjit addressed the members and recalled is association with various Rotary Clubs of our district 3291 and the projects he initiated and executed jointly with them. He also high lighted the project and its useful ness for the community at large.
When requested PP Rtn Tapas also gave details of the GSE Rotary programme and its usefulness in the critically needed modern world peace and understanding. The participating members introduced themselves.

Felicitation to Nigerian Medical Team:

A joint meeting to celebrate World Understanding & Peace month on the theme Serving beyond Borders has felicitated the delegation of Nigerian Rotarians behind the success of the recent Rotary Medical Mission of our District 3291 jointly with D-3240, was held last Thursday, the 11th February, 2010 at Hotel Hindusthan International, Kolkata, followed by fellowship and dinner.

RI Director Nominee Rtn Shekhar Mehta (Zone 6A) was Chief Guest, Dist Governor Rtn Utpal Majumdar was Guest of Honour, ARRFC Rtn Ravi Sehgal (Zone 6A) and PDG Rtn Saliu Ahmed (RID 9125, Nigeria) were Special Guests.

Our Club was one of the co host of the event.

R.C. of Calcutta South City celebrate successful completion of Bortika
(Our District Conference 2009-10)

Our club celebrated the successful completion of Bortika (District Conference 2009-10) held at Nazrul Manch during 15th to 17th January, 2010 in our Regular club meeting on 25th January, 2010 in presence of our PP & DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar and recently elected DGN 2012-13 Rtn Uttam Ganguly.

Gifts and flower bouquets were presented to:

  • PP & DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar and for 1st Lady of our district Anne Sunayana Baodi.DGN 2012-13 our beloved Rtn Uttam Ganguly.
  • District Conference Chairman and our CP Rtn Sanjit Chatterjee.

Visit to Susrat Eye Centre at Behrampur:

We are glad about the satisfactory progress of IOL s under our Matching Grant Project at Behrampur (Murshidabad). We are in the process of completion of 1000 cases very soon. We undergone checking up of whole process, verification of records, and discussions with Susrut Eye Hospital authorities during our visit at Susrat Eye Foundation Hospital by Hazarduari Express on 6th February. We visited about 12 persons at random, those under gone IOLoperation, at their homes ( within 30-35 Kms of the hospital) to get the feed back and interaction. The whole process has been done very efficiently and properly.

Our heasrtiest thanks go to the Susrat Eye Foundation management and authorities, particularly Dr R.C. Pal.

Members visited are President Rtn Kuldip, Secretary Rtn Sanjay, Rtn Tapas and Rtn Dibyendu.

We have postponed our weekly meeting No 760 scheduled for Next Tuesday (12-2-10) at this venue and date. All members are to take note and attend.

Visit to Susrat Eye Centre at Behrampur:


We are glad about the satisfactory progress of IOLs under our Matching Grant Project at Murshidabad. We are in process of 800 plus cases which are screened and going to be operated soon. To take the whole process observation and details check up, we have planned a visit there by Hazarduari Express on 6th February and return by same train in the evening from there. Members are requested to confirm their participation for this visit to Secretary Rtn Sanjay immediately.

# He announced that how there was some doubt about our club’s ability to organize this mega event in the initial stages but the methodical planning, execution and guidance provided by our beloved PP & DG Rtn Utpal turned these doubts meaningless.
# a very appropriate felicitation was extended to our PP & DG Rtn Utpal, DGN 2012-13 Rtn Uttam, CP Rtn Sanjit, PP Rtn Pulak, PP Rtn Chitta, PP Rtn Pramod, Rtn Tapas, Rtn Dibyendu, Rtn Debasish and Rtn Swati.
President Rtn Kuldip and Secretary Rtn Sanjay were also felicitated by Utpal da.
Our RCC President Shri Gobindo also offered a flower bouquet to Utpal da on behalf of all RCC members.
When requested to speak few words, Utpal da requested all our club members to come forward and pay at least Rs 4600 (U$ 100) to Rotary Foundation every member. He also said that in all his district work, he has never forgotten his home club.
