First Blood Donation Camp for this Rotary Year 2009-2010, was held on 19th July, 2009 (Sunday) at New Ballygunge Balak Sangha Sadharan Pathagar, Near New Kasba P.S. It was attended by Hon’ble Mayor Shri Bikash Ranjan Bhatacharjee and Shri Biplab Chatterjee, famous film artist to encourage the organizers.

Our President Rtn Kuldip, Rtn Swati, Rotaract Club President Rtr Hrishik Bose and Shri Tarun Bhattacharjee were also present. Our club paid a cheque for Rs 1000 for this noble cause.

Total Donors: 100 persons.

Our PP Rtn Pulak is recovering satisfactorily from a Bye pass surgery he underwent recently.He has shifted back to his Diamond Park residence this Monday.
Our IPP Rtn Rathin is also going through eye ailment and is going for further treatment outside Calcutta.
We pray to the almighty and wish both of our senior members an early recovery and very good health.

Rotaract Club Installation:

14th Installation of our Rotaract Club of Calcutta South City was held jointly with Rotaract Club of Mega City and Calcutta North
this Sunday ie., 19th July at Star Theater Banquet Hall. It was well attended programme where about 102 persons including Rotarians, District Officials and Rotaractors were present.
Our President Rtn Kuldip and Rtn Swati also attended. A cheque for Rs 1000 was paid to the Rotaract club on this occasion.

Rotary International as an organisation and Rotarians individually, played an important role in the formation of the United Nations. In April, 1945, Rotary was in the forefront to finalise the Charter of the UN in San Francisco, USA. 49 Rotarians helped draft the United Nations Charter.

Minutes of the 731st Regular club meeting of Rotary Club of Calcutta South City held at The Outram Club on 14th July, 2009 at 7 P.M.

President Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi:

• called the 7312st Meeting to order. National Anthem was sung by all m,embers present led by Rtn Tripti Dutta.
• requested to please switch off their mobiles during the meeting.
• welcomed Mr Lakhwinder Singh who was our Charter Member and will be requested to join again our club.
• requested Rtn Subhash to collect Rs 50 from those members who had forgot to wear Rotary lapel pin.
• extended his gratitude and thanks to members of our club who have very kindly give him the opportunity second time to be President of our club.he expressed his hope that with the active cooperatrion of all members, we can do successfully all our planned Rotary Projects including the District Conference. While doing our Rotary projects let us also enjoy Rotary and fellowship.
• requested CP Rtn Sanjit to inform members about our new Venue w.e.f. next regular meeting of 21st instant atMETROPOLE, 174, Sarat Bose Road, Kolkata-700 029
• CP Rtn Sanjit informed the members about the need of such suitable venue this year as our club has initiated some good Matching grants projectslike IOL at Murshidabad and Computer Literacy along with holding of District Conference as lead club. As always coming forward for fellowship, he very generously offered to sponsor the very first regular meeting at our above mentioned new venue on 21st July. He hoped that this venue will create a notable impression and above it is fulfillment of long time desire of our most of our members. Thank you very much Sanjit da.

• announced that 1st Blood Donation Camp for the current year will be held on Sunday, the 19th instant at New Ballygunje Balak Sangha Sadharan Pathagar near Kasba P.S. between 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. Members were requested to attend to encourage the organizers.
• Our Rotaract Club President Rtr Hrrishik Bose invited dour members for their 14th Installation to be held on Sunday, the 19th instant at Star Theater Banquet Hall at 5 P.M.

• Extended heartfelt greetings on his behalf and also on behalf of all members of our club, to IPP Rtn Rathin and his team for doing excellent work during the last RY 2008-09. requested for his assistance and guidance during the current year also as we are hosting District Conference as lead club and all other Rotary clubs of our district as Co-host clubs. We have also planned two Mega Matching grant projects this year, ie., Cataract IOL operations, inclusive of pre & post operative care and spectacles in and around Birbhum and Murshidabad area and second Project is about Computer Literacy prtogramme.
• We will also participate in the District Heart Care Project by locating and forwarding needy child for Cardiac treatment and Pace maker implantation, as programmed by our District this year.
  
• Other regular projects with our Rotaract, RCC Khandalia and Interact Club, Swimming Competition at Baghdevi Tarun Sangha, ProvidingTuition fees for two Howrah students, Blood Donation Camps, Text Books distribution to needy students, Rotary Foundation contribution, Polio Awareness Programmes, Membership growth and Retention will also be continued.

COTS and 1st Club Assbly was held at The Outram Club at 11 A.M. on Sunday 21st June, 2009. It was attended By our AG Rtn Santanu Bose andZR Rtn Ashif Shah. On this occasion a suitable booklet with necessary information about Executive Committee Members, and Various Committees forRY 2009-10 was printed, The Runner was also distributed among members.

Following Incoming Service Directors for Rotary Year 2009-10 were present and informed members about the plans and programmes for theCurrent Rotary year:

THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR - 2009-2010

RTN. UTPAL MAJUMDAR

Graduate Science from the University of Calcutta and did his Post Graduation in Law from the same University subsequently Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Modern Management.

He was a habitual participant in Extempore Speech and debate at College along with University level and stood first in All Bengal Inter College Debate Competition twice. He started his career with ICI India Ltd. and after that switched over to Clarion Advertising, joined in 1978 Jalan & Co., a reputed Solicitor Firm and became a partner therein. In 1984 he established his own firm and presently having 6 juniors and 15 Assistants. He is now practicing at Supreme Court of India and in the Calcutta High Court.

Our District Governor is in the Board of Directors of Howrah Mills Co. Ltd., Aarchi Consultancy Pvt. Ltd.,MKJ Enterprises Ltd., Ramrajya Overseas Pvt. Ltd.,H. R. Global Finance Ltd. and of many other companies. Rtn, Utpal Majumder is a life member of Eastern Chamber of Commerce, Kolkata. Also he is in the Appeal Committee of All India Football Federation (AIFF) and a member of Calcutta Club, Calcutta Rowing Club, Calcutta Swimming Club and Dakshin Kalikata Samsad. He was the President of Excelciors Club. In addition he is a member of Mohun Bagan Athletic Club and life member of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Rtn. Utpal Majumder is a member of Film Certification Appellate Tribunal, an apex body of Film Sensor Board. He is the joint convener of High Court Club, Calcutta. Presently member of Rotary Club Of Calcutta South City, he served Rotary at club level on various capacities and was President in District level in 1997-98 and he was selected Assistant Governor thrice and held the post of Chairman of different committees including District Fellowship Committee, District Treasurer for the year 2000-01 and Chief Aide to the Governor for the year 2006-07. He is a multiple PHF and a life member of the Four-way test Association. He is married with Sunayana, a PHF and blessed with sons Souvik and Sagnik.
