JULY…… Membership & Extension Month

16th Installation Meeting of our Club
:
was held on 3rd July, 2009 at Hotel Taj Bengal at 7.30 P.M. Jointly with R.C. Salt Lake City alongwith felicitation of our DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar..

  • MC Requested dignitaries to the dais.
  • PP Rtn Rathindra Nath Chjatterjee extended welcome to the dignitaries at our 16th Installation Meeting.
  • Requested Vice President Rtn Harbhajan Singh Thethi to carry on the proceedings, as he was not physically feeling well and called him to dais.
Rtn Harbhajan Singh Thethi:
  • Extended birthday greetings to Anne Rajinder on her birthday on 28th June.
  • Informed about the activities of our club in short.
  • Introduced the Incoming President Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi formally and requested DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar to induct him with Collar, Charter and Lapel Pin.

  • called the 731st Regular Club Meeting to order.
  • Welcomed all R.I. Officials, Our Own PP & DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar, first lady of the district Sunayana Baodi, IPDG Rtn Nayantara Palchowdhuri, DGE Rtn Rajendra Khandelwal, Shashi Bhabhiji, all PDGs, District 3291 officials, Neighbouring Club Presidents, Rotarians, their Annes and Honoured guests.
  • Extended heartfelt greetings on his behalf and also on behalf of all members of our club, to IPP Rtn Rathin and his team for doing excellent work during the last RY 2008-09. requested for his assistance and guidance during the current year also as we are hosting District Conference as lead club and all other Rotary clubs of our district as Co-host clubs. We have also planned two Mega Matching grant projects this year, ie., Cataract IOL operations, inclusive of pre & post operative care and spectacles in and around Birbhum and Murshidabad area and second Project is about Computer Literacy prtogramme.
  • We will also participate in the District Heart Care Project by locating and forwarding needy child for Cardiac treatment and Pace maker implantation, as programmed by our District this year.
  • Other regular projects with our Rotaract, RCC Khandalia and Interact Club, Swimming Competition at Baghdevi Tarun Sangha, ProvidingTuition fees for two Howrah students, Blood Donation Camps, Text Books distribution to needy students, Rotary Foundation contribution, Polio Awareness Programmes, Membership growth and Retention will also be continued.
  • requested Club Secretary, Rtn Sanjay Kumar Kanodia to conduct regular club business.
Club Secretary, Rtn Sanjay Kumar Kanodia:
  • extended heartiest welcome to neighboring club Secretaries and their Annes to our Installation meeting.
  • wished Birthday greetings to Mt. Aks Kanodia S/o Rtn Sanjay Kanodia for 3rd July,Charter President Rtn Sanjit Chatterjee and his daughter Ms Mitul for 4th July, Mt Rajiv Agarwal S/o Rtn Subhash Agarwal for 8th July and Rtn Rajinder Singh for 12th July.
  • announced that as we have preponed today the 7th July meeting, there will be no regular weekly meeting on 7th July. Hence next regular meeting will be held on 14th July at The Outram Club at 7 P.M.
  • handed over proceedings to President Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi.
President, Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi:
  • confirmed the minutes of last regular club meeting no. 730 held on 30th June at The Outram Club.
  • introduced Executive Committee members for the current Rotary Year 2009-10 and requested DG Rtn Utpal to put Lapel Pins on their collars.
  • appreciated the appeal by our DG Rtn Utpal to all clubs for contribution of at least US$ 100 to The Rotary Foundation today. Presented a cheque for Rs 4800/- (US$ 100) towards this.
  • as a token of great love and affection, offered flower bouquet to our own PP & DG Rtn Utpal by Rtn Tarun Banerjee and First lady of the District Anne Sunayana by Anne Vinkie Mathur.
As our DG is from our home club we also presented gifts to him and also to the 1st lady of the district.

COTS & First Club Assbly on Sunday, 21st June, 2009

COTS and 1st Club Assbly was held at The Outram Club at 11 A.M. on Sunday 21st June, 2009. It was attended By our AG Rtn Santanu Bose andZR Rtn Ashif Shah. On this occasion a suitable booklet with necessary information about Executive Committee Members, and Various Committees forRY 2009-10 was printed, The Runner was also distributed among members.

Following Incoming Service Directors for Rotary Year 2009-10 were present and informed members about the plans and programmes for theCurrent Rotary year:

Community Service: Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi in absence of Rtn Pulak Mokherjee.
Vocational Service: Rtn Sukhdev Singh Flora
International Service: Rtn Pramod .K. Mathur.

The entire programme was very informative and various Rotary topics were discussed with AG Rtn Shantanu Bose and ZR Rtn Ashif Shah. They were offered bouquet by CP Rtn Sanjit and Rtn Swati.

The programme was followed by a self introduction by all members present and then by fellowship and lunch sponsored by President Rtn Kuldip & Secretary Rtn Sanjay.

Get Well Soon…
Our PP Rtn Pulak Mookherjee is recovering satisfactorily from a Bye pass surgery he underwent recently. We pray to the almighty and wish him an early recovery and very good health.

Blood Donation Camp:
First Blood Donation Camp for this Rotary Year will be held on 19th July, 2009 (Sunday) between 9 A.M. TO 2 P.M. at New Ballygunje Balak Sangha Sadharan Pathagar, Near New Kasba P.S. Members please attend to encourage the organizers.

Rotary and the United Nations:
Rotary International as an organisation and Rotarians individually, played an important role in the formation of the United Nations. In April, 1945, Rotary was in the forefront to finalise the Charter of the UN in San Francisco, USA. 49 Rotarians helped draft the United Nations Charter.
