With profound grief we mourn
the sad demise of Smt Jagdish Kaur, Mother of President Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi who breathed her last on 11th January, 2010 at about 7.30 AM in Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. May her soul rest in eternal Peace.

Minutes of the 756th Regular Weekly Club Meeting held on 5th December, 2009 at The Metropole 174, Sarat Bose Road, and Kolkata-700 029 at 6.30 P.M.

President, Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi:

  • called the 756th Regular Meeting to order
  • Extended his good wishes to our members and all concerned, a very happy and prosperous New Year 2010.
  • President welcomed new members Mr Debasish Maitra and his wife Mrs Rini Maitra and also welcomed Mr Bikramjit Roy to the family of Rotary.
  • Rtn Debasish Maitra inducted in our club by District Governor Rtn Utpal Majumdar. The proposer of Rtn Debasish Maitra being Rtn Tapas Mukherjee.
  • President welcomed Rtn Bikramjit Roy inducted in our club by District Governer Rtn Utpal Majumdar. The proposer of Mr Bikramjit Roy being Rtn Pulak Mukherjee.
  • AG Santanu Bose welcomed both the new Rotarians inducted this evening.
  • Our CP and Dist. Conference Committee Chairman Rtn Sanjit informed about the developments and current status regarding incoming District Conference. He had met with our DG Rtn Utpal for this purpose and held important discussions. He also requested our club members to pay the registration charges immediately to him and thanked the members who have already done so and President Rtn Kuldip and Secretary Rtn Sanjay for contributing Rs 5000 each for the incoming Dist Conference.
  • our thanks was extended to PP Rtn Pulak, Rtn Tapas, Rtn Dibyendu, Rtn Swati and Rtn Ashok Kar for arranging about 40 plus neighboring Rotary Clubs good will visits highlighting their members about registering in good numbers along with Annes, Rtrs and friends for the incoming District Conference on 15th - 17th January, 2010 at Nazrul Manch.
  • PP Rtn Pulak appraised the members about these visits in detail. Their efforts are highly appreciated and it was assured that these visits will be continued.Our special thanks go for PP Rtn Pulak for organizing and taking active part inspite of his health grounds (he had a bye pass surgery in July-Aug last year) he has done this wonderful service to the Rotary. Well done Pulak da.
  • President in presence of DG expressed his experience regarding good will visits and at Behrampore visit on 24th December. He expressed his happiness and satisfaction for being able to visit many neighboring Rotary Clubs enriching his Rotary fellowship and understanding. He will visit IOL site at Behrampore again as it was a great experience in meeting, Rotarians of Behrampore Rotary Club, patients and staff of SEFRC.
  • DG Utpal Majumdar in his brief speech emphasized on the role of the Club members for the ensuing District Programme Bortika. He invited all the members to come forward and act with confidence and positive mind to overcome the colossal task and make the programme a grand success.
  • Regarding Matching Grant IOL project DG Utpal Majumdar warned to be particular about selection of the right candidate for operation. He also advised to pay regular visits to Behrampore and at random select the candidates for scrutiny before the operations in order to prevent any malpractices.

President requested Club Secretary Rtn Sanjay Kumar Kanodia to conduct regular club business.

Club Secretary, Rtn Sanjay Kumar Kanodia:
  • Informed that all members of our club have cleared their 1st Half Yearly club dues for current year, advertisement charges and Installation dinner charges. It is very encouraging for never tiring Treasurer Rtn Sanjit and he extended thanks to all members for their cooperation in this matter.
  • informed about the current status of our English Literacy through Computers Matching grant project and read out the correspondence he had with concerned persons in this regard.
  • informed that next regular club meeting will be held on Tuesday at The Metropole on Tuesday the 12th January, 2010 between 6.30 to 8.30 P.M.
  • National Anthem was sung by all members before the meeting was terminated led by Rtn Dilip Ch Chatterjee.

# President, Rtn Kuldip announced the club statistics and terminated the regular club meeting.
