Registration forms are with Dist Conference Committee Chairman Rtn Sanjit Chatterjee.
Regn Charges Rs 1200 for Rotarians and Rs 1000 for Annes.

Matching Grants:


Our IOL Operation Matching Grant Project No. 70433 has started….

On Thursday, the 24th December, 2009 our President, Rtn Kuldip along with Club Secretary Rtn Sanjay and Rtn Tapas went to Behrampore and attended a meeting with Susrat Eye Foundation & Research Centre. The meeting was called by Dr R.C. Paul, Secretary SEFRC and attended by Dr Debasish Sarkar CMO, SEFRC, Dr Tapas Roy, Chief Community Service, SEFRC, Mrs Sarmistha Dutta, Manager SEFRC, Mr Uday Bhowmick, Asstt Manager SEFRC, Mr Debasish Sharma, I.T. in charge SEFRC, Mr Dipak Pal, Camp Organiser, SEFRC, Behrampore along with Rtn Debabrata Marik and Rtn Arabinda Jain from R.C. of Behrampore.

It was decided that the Matching Grant Project will be started immediately and 1000 Nos of Cataract Surgeries will be performed within 31st March, 2010 out of which sizable nos will be performed during 1st Week of January, 2010

SEFRC Behrampore team will send the camp list urgently and all necessary protocols and documents will be maintained according to the project requirements.

The new site of the eye hospital, nearly completed was also visited by our club team.

An interaction with the patients at the eye hospital was also done.

The hospitality and welcome extended to our team by Dr R C Paul and his associates at the eye hospital is highly appreciated and our thanks is offered to all of the concerned persons.

Our English Teaching through Computers Matching Grant Project has been approved and the Matching Grant No. for this project is 72074

Our sincere thanks go to our advisors and helping Hands i.e., PDG Debashish, Rtn Ranjit, Rtn Vishnu and our DG Utpal for their help and guidance.

John Bernardin, International Cosponsor, President of El Sobrante Rotary Club and Director Literacy program (D-5160) will be in Kolkata during February. He will train the teachers at the Rotary Computer Center. He will be in Kolkata for three days. This will be an excellent opportunity to establish a long term relationship with a District leader from D-5160.

Heart to Heart Project:


Case history of Ms Sandipika Kumari (Aged 15 Years) D/o: Shri Dudhnath Rabidas has been approved for forwarding to DG’s office for necessary treatment under heart to heart project as our sponsored case.

Board Meeting:

Was held on Monday, the 28th December, 2009 at the Bhowanipore office of PP Rtn Pulak Mokherjee at Girish Bhawan at 6.30 P.M.

Important discussions were held in connection with incoming District Conference, Club finance and membership development. It was informed that following members’ proposals are with us and after discussions it was approved.

  • They are:Dr Binayak Deb (Proposed by Rtn Tarun Banerjee) Mr Joydip Chakraborty (Proposed by Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi) Mr Bikramjit Roy (Proposed by Rtn Pulak Mokherjee) Mr Debashish Maitra (Proposed by Rtn Tapas Mukherjee) and Mr Pradumnya Mukherjee (Proposed by Rtn Rajeev Chaturvedi).
  • 2nd Half Yearly Club dues bill was also approved for Rs 5700 and the bills will be raised by our Club Treasurer, CP Rtn Sanjit Chatterjee for immediate payment by our fellow members. Their cooperation in clearing their club dues for 1st Half of this Rotary year was also highly appreciated.
  • Heart to heart case of a 15 year girl child Ms Sandipika Kumari was also approved for forwarding to DG’s office for necessary action and treatment.
  • Other club projects held recently were also appraised to members and discussed.
  • A contribution of US$100 (Rs 4600) for The Rotary Foundation by Anne Shalini Jaiswal (W/O: Rtn Rajesh Jaiswal) for our Computer Literacy Project was highly applauded by all members.
  • Current status of our two Matching grant projects were informed, discussed and satisfaction was expressed. It was heartening to know that our IOL Project at Murshidabad has been started in association with Susrat Eye Foundation and Research Centre, Behrampore.
Excellent hospitality extended and high snacks served by PP Rtn Pulak was highly welcomed and greeted with cheers. Our thanks also go to Mr Bhola at Girish Bhawan for his help and service.

Minutes of the 754th Regular Weekly Club Meeting held on 22nd December, 2009 at The Metropole 174, Sarat Bose Road, and Kolkata-700 029 at 6.30 P.M.

President, Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi:
  • called the 753rd Regular Meeting to order
  • National Anthem was sung by all members led by Rtn Tapas Mukherjee.
  • President welcomed Rotaractor Ankit Diwan who appealed for a tuition grant for a student. He was requested to arrange participation of maximum nos of our Rotaractors for the incoming Dist. Conference, which he assured will be done.
  • Treasurer Rtn Sanjit informed the members that the cheque for Rs 8,00,016/- has been received on 8-12-09 from Delhi branch of The Rotary Foundation against our Matching Grant no. 70433 for IOL Operations in and around Murshidabad.
  • Our CP and Dist. Conference Committee Chairman Rtn Sanjit informed about the developments and current status regarding incoming District Conference. He had met with our DG Rtn Utpal for this purpose and held important discussions. He also requested our club members to pay the registration charges immediately to him and thanked the members who have already done so.
  • Our thanks was extended to PP Rtn Pulak, Rtn Tapas, Rtn Dibyendu, Rtn Swati and Rtn Ashok Kar for arranging about 35 plus neighboring Rotary Clubs good will visits highlighting their members about registering in good numbers along with Annes, Rtrs and friends for the incoming District Conference on 15th - 17th January, 2010 at Nazrul Manch.
  • PP Rtn Pulak appraised the members about these visits in detail. Their efforts are highly appreciated and it was assured that these visits will be continued.
  • President informed members that a visit to Susrat Eye Foundation and Research Centre, Behrampore in connection with IOL Matching Grant project have been planned for Thursday, the 24th instant. Rtn Tapas and Secretary Rtn Sanjay agreed to accompany him.
  • It was also finalized that Board Meeting for the month of December will be held at the Girish Bhawan, Bhowanipore Office of PP Rtn Pulak on Monday, the 28th December, 09 between 6.30 to 8.30 PM. All board members and specials invitees were requested to attend in time.
President requested Club Secretary Rtn Sanjay Kumar Kanodia to conduct regular club business.

Club Secretary, Rtn Sanjay Kumar Kanodia:
  • Informed that some of our members are yet to pay their 1st Half Yearly club dues. They are requested to clear their dues immediately.
  • Informed about the receipt of cheque from TRF against MG No 70433 and also informed about the current status of our English Literacy through Computers Matching grant project and read out the correspondence he had with concerned persons in this regard.
  • informed that next regular club meeting will be held on Tuesday at The Metropole on Tuesday the 29th December, 2009 between 6.30 to 8.30 P.M.
