Mrs Jagdish Kaur Virdi (Mother of our President Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi and our ex-President Manjit Singh Virdi left for her heavenly abode yesterday Monday, the 11th January after prolonged sickness at Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital. Gurbani Kirtan and Langer (Lunch) will be held on 18th January, 2010 (Monday) between 11.30 and 1.30 P.M. at Gurdwara Kalighat, 31, Rashbehari Avenue, Cal-26

Please attend and pay your homage to the departed soul.

President Secretary Meet:

Was held last Sunday, the 3rd January 2010 at Rotary Sadan to discuss in details in incoming District Conference. DG Rtn Utpal gave the detailed outline of the programmes and entertainment events of the programme.

It was very informative where PDG Debasish Mitra and PDG S. S. Bose spoke about Rotary Foundation and Polio NIDs. It was followed by fellowship and dinner hosted by our club.
Minutes of the 756th Regular Weekly Club Meeting held on 5th January, 2010
at The Metropole 174, Sarat Bose Road, Kolkata-700 029 at 6.30 P.M.

President, Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi:

  • called the 756th Regular Meeting to order
  • National Anthem was sung by all members led by Rtn
  • Extended new years greetings to all.
  • extended warm welcome to our AG Rtn Shantanu Bose and DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar and Mr Joydip Chakraborty (Guest of President Rtn Kuldip)
  • requested CP Rtn Sanjit Chatterjee to offer gifts to them. Flower bouquets were offered to AG Shantanu Bose by PP Rtn Chittaranjan Ghosh and to DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar PP Rtn Pramod Kumar Mathur.
  • this meeting was held especially keeping in mind to discuss and appraised the members about incoming District Conference.
  • the efforts put up for working tirelessly, in particular by CP Rtn Sanjit, PP Rtn Pulak, PP Rtn Chittaranjan Ghosh, Rtn Dibyendu, Rtn Tapas, Rtn Swati are highly praised and appreciated by all.
  • When requested DG Rtn Utpal discussed in details the programmes, financial status and other important aspects of the District Conference.
Our members assured him of total commitment and involvement for this mega event.
  • Requested AG Rtn Shantanu Bose to induct our new member Rtn Bikramjit Roy and he put lapel pin to him welcoming him in the world of Rotary family.
  • DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar inducted Rtn Debasish Maitra and put up Rotary lapel pin to him. We also greeted Anne Mira by offering flower bouquet.
  • With these inductions our total membership is 29 active members.
  • Our CP and Dist. Conference Committee Chairman Rtn Sanjit informed about the developments and current status regarding incoming District Conference. He had met with our DG Rtn Utpal for this purpose and held important discussions. He also requested our club members to pay the registration charges immediately to him and thanked the members who have already done so and President Rtn Kuldip and Secretary Rtn Sanjay for contributing Rs 5000 each for the incoming Dist Conference.
  • President announced that he has received the credential cum voting delegate form for the election of DG Nominee 2012-13
These three candidates in the row are:
1. PP Rtn Ajay Agarwal (R.C. of Central Calcutta)
2. PP Rtn Sombhu Nath Bose (R.C. of Bidhannagar)
3. PP Rtn Uttam Ganguly (R.C. of Rabindra Sarobar)

Our club is entitled for single vote, to be held at the District Conference on 17th January, 2010 at Nazrul Manch.

After discussions, CP Rtn Sanjit proposed that President Rtn Kuldip will cast this vote and in his absence name of Secretary Rtn Sanjay as alternate was finalized as alternate person to caste this vote. The members present unanimously approved this.

President requested Club Secretary Rtn Sanjay Kumar Kanodia to conduct regular club business.

  • Ms Diptarka Pal (S/O: Rtn Pradip Kumar Pal) for 29th December.
  • Mt Soubhik Majumdar (S/O: PP Rtn Utpal Majumdar) for 2nd January.
  • Anne Jayoti (W/O: IPP Rtn Rathindra Nath Chatterjee for 31st December
  • Correction for birth date of Anne (W/O: Rtn Tarun Banerjee) was announced. The error is highly regretted.
  • Wedding Anniversary greeting was extended for 31st December to PP Rtn Sukhdev Singh Flora with Anne Sharmila.
  • informed that all members of our club have cleared their 1st Half Yearly club dues for current year, advertisement charges and Installation dinner charges. It is very encouraging for never tiring Treasurer Rtn Sanjit and he extended thanks to all members for their cooperation in this matter.
  • informed about the current status of our English Literacy through Computers Matching grant project and read out the correspondence he had with concerned persons in this regard.
  • informed that next regular club meeting will be held on Tuesday at The Metropole on Tuesday the 12th January, 2010 between 6.30 to 8.30 P.M.
