R.C. of Calcutta South City celebrate successful completion of Bortika
(Our District Conference 2009-10)

Our club celebrated the successful completion of Bortika (District Conference 2009-10) held at Nazrul Manch during 15th to 17th January, 2010 in our Regular club meeting on 25th January, 2010 in presence of our PP & DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar and recently elected DGN 2012-13 Rtn Uttam Ganguly.

Gifts and flower bouquets were presented to:
PP & DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar and for 1st Lady of our district Anne Sunayana Baodi.
DGN 2012-13 our beloved Rtn Uttam Ganguly.
District Conference Chairman and our CP Rtn Sanjit Chatterjee.
District Conference Secretary and our PP Rtn Pulak Mokherjee.
District Secretary (Organisation) PP Rtn Chittaranjan Ghosh.
District Conference (Sgt of Arms Chairman) PP Rtn Pramod Kumar Mathur.

Our members, who worked tirelessly for the success of Dist Conference:
Rtn Tapas Kumar Mukherjee, Rtn Dibyendu Mitra, Rtn Debasish Maitra and
Rtn Swati Bhattacharjee.
Our President Rtn Kuldip and Secretary Rtn Sanjay were also felicitated.

It was atmosphere full of happiness, joy and celebration. PDG Rtn Ravi Sehgal and PDG Rtn Debasish Mitra could not attend, as they were out of station.
Thank you very much Utpal da for taking along your home club to the great glory and new heights. We extend our gratitude and best wishes to our PP & DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar and Sunayana Bao di for organizing and leading our District 3291 to a very successful and meaningful District Conference BORTIKA.

Celebration for Bortika…

There was a celebration organized by DG Rtn Utpal Majumdar on 1st February, 2010 at 12, Alipore Park Road where from our club our CP Rtn Sanjit, PP Rtn Pulak, PP Rtn Chitta and PP Rtn Pramod were felicitated for their active participation in Dist Conference. This wonderful evening was followed by fellowship and dinner. It was attended by Rtn Swati, Rtn Dibyendu, Rtn Debasish, Rtn Tapas, Rtn Pradip, Rtn Rajiv, Rtn Subhash and others.

Felicitation to Nigerian Medical Team:


A felicitation evening to felicitate Nigerian Medical Team has been organized on 11th February, 2010 (Thursday) at Hotel Hindusthan at 6.30 PM onwards followed by Fellowship and dinner. We have postponed our weekly meeting No 760 scheduled for Next Tuesday (12-2-10) at this venue and date. All members are to take note and attend.

Visit to Susrat Eye Centre at Behrampur:


We are glad about the satisfactory progress of IOLs under our Matching Grant Project at Murshidabad. We are in process of 800 plus cases which are screened and going to be operated soon. To take the whole process observation and details check up, we have planned a visit there by Hazarduari Express on 6th February and return by same train in the evening from there. Members are requested to confirm their participation for this visit to Secretary Rtn Sanjay immediately.

Inauguration Programme for Computer Programme:

We have finalised the inauguration programme for Teaching English through Computer Programme in association with Janabi Trust on 24th February, 2010 as follows:

Heart to Heart Surgery:
We have submitted a third case for Heart Treatment at DG’s office for 1.5 Year old child Ms Swastika Saha, forwarded by PP Rtn Pulak.

Minutes of the 758th Regular Weekly Club Meeting held on 25th January, 2010
at The Metropole 174, Sarat Bose Road, Kolkata-700 029 at 6.30 P.M.

President, Rtn Kuldip Singh Virdi:
# called the 758th Regular Meeting to order
# National Anthem was sung by all members led by Rtn Tapas Kumar Mokherjee.
# greeted members for being organizing club for the Bortika, Dist Conference 2009-10 held at Nazrul Manch and announced that today’s regular meeting has been organized to felicitate Rotarians from our home clubs, who worked tirelessly for making this conference a success.
# Also our beloved Rtn Uttam Ganguly for being recently elected as DGN 2012-13 also to be felicitated by our club.
# He announced that how there was some doubt about our club’s ability to organize this mega event in the initial stages but the methodical planning, execution and guidance provided by our beloved PP & DG Rtn Utpal turned these doubts meaningless.
# a very appropriate felicitation was extended to our PP & DG Rtn Utpal, DGN 2012-13 Rtn Uttam, CP Rtn Sanjit, PP Rtn Pulak, PP Rtn Chitta, PP Rtn Pramod, Rtn Tapas, Rtn Dibyendu, Rtn Debasish and Rtn Swati.
President Rtn Kuldip and Secretary Rtn Sanjay were also felicitated by Utpal da.
Our RCC President Shri Gobindo also offered a flower bouquet to Utpal da on behalf of all RCC members.
When requested to speak few words, Utpal da requested all our club members to come forward and pay at least Rs 4600 (U$ 100) to Rotary Foundation every member. He also said that in all his district work, he has never forgotten his home club.

There will be no regular club meeting on 9-2-10 at The Metropole.
